Teachers warn 14,930 students at risk under NCEA replacement

14,930 students could fail under the 2029 replacement for NCEA, PPTA president Chris Abercrombie said. The new certificate would require passes in three full subjects. BERL, an economics consultancy hired by the secondary teachers' union, found 32 percent of Year 12 students who passed NCEA Level 2 lacked that depth. The Education Ministry says pass rates could fall.
