Councils want fast-track housing paused over infrastructure pressure

Local Government New Zealand, with support from the Auckland and Queenstown mayors, wants an immediate pause to fast-tracked housing developments and a review of the system. LGNZ vice-president Dan Gordon said some projects, approved through a quicker consent process, are putting heavy pressure on roads, water and other services, especially in rural areas.
