Councils want quick housing builds paused as roads and water struggle

Local Government New Zealand, which speaks for councils, backed by the Auckland and Queenstown mayors, wants an immediate halt to quickly approved housing projects and a check of the rules. Its vice-president Dan Gordon said some building is overloading basics like roads and water, especially in country areas.
