Canada imposes $20 billion in counter-tariffs on U.S. goods Sept. 8

Canada will impose retaliatory tariffs — taxes on imports — on $20 billion of U.S. goods starting September 8, 2026, after trade talks collapsed. They respond to 50 per cent U.S. tariffs on Canadian exports imposed when negotiations failed last month.
