Prime Video to Double Japanese Original Content Investment Over Two Years

Prime Video will double its investment in Japanese original content over the next two years, according to three of the streamer's top executives. The platform already ranks first in Japan's streaming market by both user ratio and subscription base, Japan country manager Oishi told Variety (3 September 2026). The slate is led by a Kore-eda Hirokazu-directed Arashi documentary, streaming worldwide from 15 December.
