Fatal Collision on A66 Involving Cleveland Police Vehicle

Multiple people died when a Cleveland Police vehicle and a Volkswagen Passat collided on the A66 in South Bank, North Yorkshire, at roughly 3:39 a.m. on 22 August 2026. Police have not yet confirmed the death toll. Emergency services deployed 14 units, including a hazardous area response team and an air ambulance doctor. The road remains closed both ways between Normanby Road and Church Lane in Eston.
