GSK Drug Doubles Hepatitis B Cure Rate in Clinical Trial
GSK's bepirovirsen, an antisense drug that targets hepatitis B virus RNA, achieved sustained viral clearance in roughly 20% of patients—double the rate of existing interferon therapy. Unlike current antivirals, it suppresses viral protein production by attacking multiple viral transcripts. The result advances treatment prospects for 300 million people with chronic hepatitis B and clears the path for Phase 3 trials.
