New Drug Shows Promise in Hepatitis B Treatment

GSK's new drug, bepirovirsen, has doubled the success rate in clearing hepatitis B infection. In trials, it eliminated detectable virus in about 20% of patients, compared to 10% with existing treatment. The drug works differently than current medicines by targeting viral instructions that the standard drugs miss. This advance could change treatment for the 300 million people worldwide with chronic hepatitis B.
