Sydney's $150M Town Hall Plaza: Four Decades in the Making

Sydney has revealed designs for a 4,500-square-metre public plaza opposite Town Hall — a vision first mooted 40 years ago. The $150 million project requires demolishing seven CBD (central business district) buildings; the council is still acquiring the last. Demolition begins in 2028, with completion targeted for 2031. Lord Mayor Clover Moore called it a "once-in-a-generation opportunity."
