UAE Says Iran Fired Missile at Oil Tanker in Key Shipping Lane

On 8 August 2026, the UAE accused Iran's military of firing a missile at an oil tanker passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow shipping route between the Gulf and the open ocean. Abu Dhabi called the attack piracy and demanded Iran reopen the route. ADNOC, the UAE's national oil company, says 15 of its ships have been attacked, killing one crew member and injuring 20.
