Taiwan's Leader Practices Emergency Escape in Military Drills

Taiwan's President William Lai rode a military armoured vehicle to a command centre during a midnight evacuation practice on August 6. The exercise, part of Taiwan's annual Han Kuang drills running August 5–14, simulates a Chinese blockade, a major earthquake, and a full-scale invasion. Lai took part directly, putting the country's leader inside the rehearsal rather than watching from afar.
