Taiwan's President Lai Rehearses Midnight Armoured Evacuation in Han Kuang Drills

President William Lai rode an armoured personnel carrier to a command centre in a mid-night evacuation drill on August 6, part of Taiwan's annual Han Kuang exercises running August 5–14. The drills simulate a Chinese blockade, a major earthquake, and a full-scale invasion. Lai's participation placed the head of state inside the operational rehearsal rather than at a distance.
