Labour's GST plan questioned by tax officials
Labour wants to raise the income level at which businesses must register for GST from $60,000 to $80,000. That would let about 35,000 businesses stop charging the tax. But Deloitte's Alan Bullot says some tax officials think the level should be lower, not higher. He says the change would move the paperwork problem, not solve it. The level has not changed since 2009.
