Maker of Raleigh Bikes Goes Broke After Failing to Find a Buyer

Accell Group, the Dutch company behind Raleigh and other bike brands, started going bankrupt on 6 August 2026 after a possible sale to Dutech Holdings fell through. Accell, which called itself Europe's top electric bike maker, said it tried "every realistic option." Lenders took over from KKR in February 2026 after its €1.4 billion purchase failed.
