SpaceX Says It Will Become a Cell Phone Company

On SpaceX's first earnings call since going public in June 2026, President Gwynne Shotwell said the company plans to become a full cell phone provider, competing with AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. Rooftop Starlink satellite dishes would send cell signals directly to phones. SpaceX claims faster service than today's networks but shared no details to back that up.
