Guatemala Evacuates Villages as Fuego Volcano Erupts

Guatemala ordered people to leave at least two villages near Fuego volcano on 4 August 2026. Lava poured from its top, and fast-moving rivers of hot gas, ash, and rock rushed downhill — like a burning snow avalanche. The disaster agency issued an orange alert, the country's second-highest warning. Fuego's 2018 eruption killed over 200 people.
