Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Passes 6,000 Six Weeks After Two Major Quakes

Venezuela's confirmed death toll from two powerful earthquakes on June 24 has reached 6,125, official Jorge Rodriguez announced. The quakes badly damaged La Guaira and Caracas. About 61,000 people have been treated in hospitals. A U.S. science agency had warned more than 10,000 deaths were possible. The count rose steadily from 188 reported within the first day.
