Trump Says U.S. Called Off Iran Attack After Reaching a Deal
President Trump said on social media on Aug. 1, 2026, that the U.S. cancelled a planned military attack on Iran after Iran and other Middle Eastern countries asked, because a deal outline was reached. Trump said it would reopen a key shipping route and end Iran's nuclear threat. Iran's Mehr news agency called it "simply a new lie." The U.S. and Israel have fought Iran since February 2026.
