Trump Says U.S. Called Off Iran Strike After Deal Framework Reached

President Trump said on Truth Social on August 1, 2026, that the U.S. cancelled a planned military strike on Iran at the request of Iran and other Middle Eastern countries because "the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to." Trump said the deal would open the Strait of Hormuz and end Iran's nuclear threat. Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency called the claim "simply a new lie." The U.S. and Israel have been at war with Iran since February 2026.
