Famous Climber Nirmal Purja Dies in Mountain Avalanche

Nirmal Purja, 43, was confirmed dead alongside nine others after a mass of snow crashed down on his climbing team on Broad Peak in Pakistan on July 30. His company, Elite Exped, confirmed the deaths. Purja made history in 2019 by climbing all 14 of the world's tallest mountains in just six months, and later became the first to reach the top of K2 in winter.
