A Single Missing Underscore Sent an Innocent Man to Prison

Police in Nova Scotia mixed up two usernames that differed by a single underscore — the line some usernames use. They blamed one account's activity on Brandon Klayme, who actually used the other. Convicted of child luring and possessing child pornography, he spent 18 months in prison. In late July, an appeals court cleared him entirely, saying he "should never have been charged, let alone convicted."
