Government locks in $3.65b deal to build Northland Expressway

The Government has hired a private group, Northway, to design, build and maintain the first 26km of the Northland Expressway, from Warkworth to Te Hana. The 30-year deal costs $3.649 billion — $251 million less than Cabinet expected. Transport Minister Chris Bishop announced the signing on 30 July.
