Time running out to switch between Māori and general rolls

If you're of Māori descent, you have until midnight Thursday, 6 August 2026 to choose which electoral roll you're on — Māori or general — ahead of the 7 November election. After that, your choice is locked in. Chief electoral officer Karl Le Quesne says roughly equal numbers have switched each way this year. You can change at vote.nz.
