Māori roll switch deadline: midnight 6 August, then locked until after election

Voters of Māori descent have until midnight on Thursday, 6 August 2026 to switch between the Māori and general rolls before the 7 November election. After that, roll type is locked in for the entire election period. Chief electoral officer Karl Le Quesne says movement between rolls has been relatively balanced in 2025. Voters can change rolls at vote.nz.
