Baidu's Self-Driving Taxis Begin London Testing Through Lyft and Uber
Baidu is testing its Apollo Go self-driving cars in London's Brent area with human backup drivers ready to take over. The company is working with both Lyft's Freenow app and Uber — a dual arrangement that breaks the one-company-only pattern common in US markets. Public rides could start in 2027 if regulators approve. Apollo Go gave 3.2 million driverless rides globally in early 2026, mostly in China.
