Auckland's big rail tunnel: public told to wait for an opening date

Auckland councillors say they cannot tell the public when the NZ$5.5 billion City Rail Link will open to passengers — even though the project's own website lists Sunday 2 August 2026. Barry Potter told councillors not to answer opening-date questions. Councillor Richard Hills said people were "getting frustrated" and asked if at least the month could be shared.
