Berlin Parade Attack Called Islamist Terror; Attacker Was Already Known to Police

A man drove a vehicle into Berlin's Christopher Street Day parade on July 26, killing one person and injuring 29. Police say the attack was driven by Islamist extremism — violence inspired by radical Islamic beliefs. The suspect, 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, had a criminal record and was already flagged for supporting the Islamic State group. Police shot him dead in Spandau.
