Berlin CSD Attack Classified as Islamist Terror; Suspect Was Known to Police

Investigators classified the July 26 vehicle attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day as an "islamistischer Terroranschlag." The suspect, 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, was previously known to police as an Islamist with Islamic State sympathies and a prior criminal conviction. He killed one person and injured 29 before being killed by police in Spandau.
