One Rival Steps Up to Challenge Victoria's Premier Before Election

Victoria's Deputy Premier Ben Carroll is the only person challenging Premier Jacinta Allan for leadership of their Labor Party, four months before a state election. Carroll, 51, became deputy in 2023 after threatening to run against Allan following the previous premier's resignation. Allan then shut him out of a key cabinet spending committee.
