France Wildfire Reaches Bordeaux, Forcing Thousands to Flee

A wildfire that started July 22 in Saumos, Gironde reached Bordeaux's outskirts by July 26. France sent phone alerts to evacuate eight nearby towns. Since July 22, 220,000 people fled, 42,000 hectares — about 100,000 football fields — burned, and two firefighters died. No containment has been reported.
