
Gironde Wildfire Reaches Bordeaux Outskirts, Triggering Urban Evacuations via FR-Alert
A wildfire that ignited in Saumos, Gironde on July 22 reached Bordeaux's outskirts by July 26, forcing evacuations of eight bordering communes. France activated FR-Alert, its national population-warning system, for urban wildfire evacuations. Since July 22, 220,000 people have been displaced and 42,000 hectares burned. Two firefighters died. No containment has been reported.
