Prime minister opens a northern base in Manchester

The BBC reported that Prime Minister Andy Burnham has started working from a Manchester office nicknamed "No 10 North" — a nod to his London headquarters at 10 Downing Street. Up to 300 government staff are expected there by next year. Two senior ministers will also work there regularly. Downing Street said existing budgets will cover costs, with no extra charge to taxpayers.
