Burnham opens 'No 10 North' in Manchester with 300 civil servants expected

The BBC reported that Prime Minister Andy Burnham has begun working from "No 10 North", a base at Heron House in Manchester city centre. Burnham called it the "situation room for making Britain better". Up to 300 civil servants are expected to join by the end of next year. Education Secretary Lucy Powell and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Louise Haigh will also work there regularly. Downing Street said costs will be covered by existing Cabinet Office budgets with no additional cost to taxpayers.
