Husic's push for Labor to recognise genocide findings fails at party conference
Ed Husic wanted Labor to officially accept UN and International Court of Justice findings of genocide against Israel. But at the party's Adelaide conference on 25 July 2026, his proposal never even got debated. A union withdrew its support that morning, leaving Husic without a seconder — someone required to back a proposal before it can be discussed. NSW MP Stephen Lawrence said most delegates supported it personally. Senior Labor sources denied any organised block.
