Husic's genocide recognition motion killed at Labor conference after union pulls support

Ed Husic's resolution urging Labor to recognise ICJ and UN findings of genocide against Israel never reached the floor at the party's Adelaide national conference on 25 July 2026. The Maritime Union of Australia withdrew its backing that morning, leaving Husic without a seconder. NSW MP Stephen Lawrence said most delegates personally supported it.
