Tesla's Self-Driving Taxi Rides Drop Sharply Even as Service Reaches More Cities

Tesla's paid self-driving taxi trips fell about 36% in Q2 2026, dropping from roughly 1.1 million to 700,000 miles, according to TechCrunch's review of Tesla's investor update. The decline came despite expansion to six cities in Texas and Florida. Tesla shares fell over 13% on July 23. Musk said the Cybercab lacks the driving data Tesla already has from its Model 3 and Model Y cars.
