Google's Parent Company Wants to Raise $80 Billion for AI Spending
Alphabet, Google's parent company, proposed selling $80 billion in new shares to fund AI infrastructure. The company reported Q2 2026 revenue of $119.8 billion and profits up 294%. It also raised its 2026 spending forecast to $180–190 billion — about six times what it spent in 2022. The scale suggests AI costs may exceed what its own earnings can cover.
