Investigators: Driver Pressed the Gas Pedal Fully, Switching Off Tesla's Self-Driving Before Fatal 70 mph Crash

NTSB investigators confirmed that a Tesla Model 3 driver pressed the gas pedal all the way down, which switched off the car's self-driving feature entirely before the vehicle struck a Texas home at over 70 mph, killing Martha Avila. Driver Michael Butler, 44, said he lost consciousness after turning the feature on. No drugs or alcohol were found. NHTSA is also investigating; the NTSB probe remains open.
