
Ghana Says: Check IDs Digitally, No More Photocopies
Ghana now requires businesses to verify people's national ID cards using a phone app that scans fingerprints or facial features — not by eye or photocopy. The ID agency's chief says copying or just looking at the card for transactions is illegal. Violators face fines up to 24,000 cedis (~$2,100). A public briefing is coming.
