Ghana Mandates Biometric ID Checks, Bans Photocopies of National ID

Ghana's National Identification Authority now requires all businesses and institutions to verify the Ghana Card biometrically via a mobile app, outlawing visual inspection and photocopying. NIA chief Wisdom Yayra Koku Deku stated: "It is now an offence to photocopy or visually inspect a Ghana Card for the purpose of transaction." Non-compliant organizations face fines up to 24,000 cedis (~$2,100). A public briefing on implementation is forthcoming.
