Late Senator's Sister Appointed to Fill His South Carolina Seat

South Carolina's governor appointed Darline Graham to fill her late brother's Senate seat after he died on July 11. President Trump recommended her for the temporary role. Graham, who has never run for office, will hold the position until January 2027, when South Carolina voters will choose a permanent senator.
