Trump Steers South Carolina to Appoint Graham's Sister as Interim Senator

After Senator Lindsey Graham died July 11 from an aorta rupture, President Trump recommended his sister Darline for the vacant seat. Governor Henry McMaster appointed her on July 13. Darline Graham, a commissioner on the South Carolina Commission for the Blind with no prior elected office, will serve as placeholder until Graham's term ends January 2027, when a special election will choose a permanent successor.
