Could disabled people get NHS care instead of cash payments?

The government is reviewing how it supports disabled people through cash payments. It says it won't stop giving cash entirely, but is exploring whether people with mental health conditions could get NHS treatment or equipment instead. The current system has been criticised as "dehumanising" and not working properly. A final decision will come in autumn 2026.
