Judge Cancels Block on Gold Mine Waste Dam

A judge cancelled a 2024 decision by former environment minister Tanya Plibersek that stopped company Regis Resources building a dam to hold mining waste for its McPhillamys gold mine at Blayney, NSW. Justice James Stellios said the order, made under section 10 of Indigenous heritage law to protect the upper Belubula River, was invalid after the company challenged it.
