Federal Court Invalidates Plibersek Order Blocking NSW Gold Mine Tailings Dam

Justice James Stellios ruled invalid former environment minister Tanya Plibersek's 2024 order under section 10 of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act. The order had blocked Regis Resources from building a tailings dam in the Belubula River headwaters for its McPhillamys goldmine at Blayney. Regis had challenged the order's legality.
