Overnight hackers broke into cooling controls in 150 Intermarché stores across France, heating fridges and freezers to up to 50°C, Reuters reported Oct. 12. Hundreds more French supermarkets lost cooling in fresh and frozen aisles. Like home appliances controlled by phone, connected store machines can create physical risk in many places at once.
