Alberta leader backs new pipeline route to the Pacific

Alberta's Premier Danielle Smith changed her mind on July 2 about how a new oil pipeline should reach the Pacific Ocean. She had wanted it to go north to BC's coast, but now accepts a southern route instead. The federal government will protect BC's northern waters from oil tankers. Two companies will build the pipeline.
