Crowded Boat Sinks Near Djibouti, Killing at Least 139 People

At least 139 people traveling to seek a better life died and 84 are still missing after their crowded boat carrying 305 people tipped over and sank off Djibouti on 11 October 2026, the International Organization for Migration, which tracks such journeys, said. These early numbers may change as more are found and lists are checked.
