
Could a Lost Pilot's Plane Be Found on a Pacific Island?
Seventeen researchers are sailing to remote Nikumaroro Island, arriving by Monday. Aboard the Marin Mainiku, the Purdue University and Archaeological Legacy Institute team will check a mysterious object that may be from pilot Amelia Earhart's plane, lost in 1937. A bigger dig could follow next year if it matches, but past hunts there found nothing.
