Police block central New Delhi before Gen-Z youth protest

Nearly 30,000 personnel, or police staff, were posted across New Delhi on October 10, 2026, ahead of protests planned by young Gen-Z demonstrators. Police blocked roads with barriers around Connaught Place near Jantar Mantar in the center that morning and held small groups as they arrived. The huge show of force raises lasting questions about whether it went too far.
